SESSION TEN
After leaving The Diner, the group headed towards The Church. As they opened the doors, they were greeted by the pulsing sound of EDM and vapor pooling at their feet. Confused but intrigued, they stepped inside. The group immediately split up, Ren on the hunt of a mysterious movement he saw up in the rafters, Sadie wanting to surveil the patrons, while Hopps wanted to check out the bar.
Hopps met the bartender, Frast, who explained that he and his wife, Fia, ran the establishment. Hopps noted that his long limbs and digits bore signs of Marfan Syndrome, but that his torso was too short for that to make any sense. Ren tried to sneak upstairs, but was stopped by one of Fia's children. He found a back entrance and a spare uniform which he used to disguise himself and check out the basement. There he found the mysterious portal. After shedding his disguise, he met up with the other Agents at the bar and took them to the back entrance. As soon as Hopps heard about a magical portal, she rushed on in. Ren told Sadie to make a distraction on the dance floor and ran in after Hopps.
He found her staring agape at the majesty of the floating pool. Once he was convinced she wasn't going to do anything stupid, the two experimented with sticking their hands in the portal and tossing pens and scraps of paper in. Matiopia, about as addicted to magic as her character, decided it was finally time to do something stupid and dove into the portal. Ren tried to stop her but just ended up sprawled out on the floor.
1D4 SAN and WP later along with a nasty SAN test for entering a massive bone-filled pit encircled by an enormous dhole while flying ships flitted about overhead, Matiopia said "I think I'd have been better off taking the 1 WP loss for not playing around with the magic." She hid behind a heap of bones and watched as a Man of Leng trotted down the spiraling path to the bottom of the pit and donned his Sikh disguise.
SESSION ELEVEN
We picked up right where we left off as a figure emerged from the portal. Ren was as surprised to see the Man of Leng as he was to see Ren. A quick chat established that neither of them bore the other any ill will and the goat-footed man left. Ren hung around in the basement until Hopps finally emerged, spluttering about "another world" and "a massive worm." The two of them reconvened with Sadie on the dance floor before heading back to the car to discuss their plans. They decided that even though the entire town was weird as fuck, Rupert was their only real lead, and they needed to get more information on him. So Sadie walked over to The Diner and asked him if she could borrow one of his girls for the night. She and Ren checked into Isid's hotel for the night while Hopps went off exploring.
The bizarre bazaar in The Temple was Hopps' dream come true. A vast emporium of magical trinkets, strange beasts, and occult tomes. She struck up a conversation with Mohammed, the moonwine dealer, who introduced her to Dario. He slammed back a shot of the drink and gave Hopps a little demonstration before Mohammed offered her a free first taste.
Meanwhile, Sadie tried to extract some information from Ania, the escort. She refused to answer any questions, as she was too afraid of Rupert and they just had sex instead. However, during the pillow-talk, Sadie was able to learn a bit about Ania's life in the Dreamlands before her family sold her into slavery. Now that she felt more comfortable with Sadie (and it didn't help that the sex was actually good), she confided that she had seen Gita. She saw her go outside to talk to Rupert and then there was this terrible noise from behind the building. After Ania fell asleep, Sadie snuck out and gathered her companions to look for clues behind The Diner. Boasting an impressive Forensics and Search of 70%, Sadie found a scrap of flesh and a splash of blood hidden behind the garbage bags next to the dumpster. Back in the hotel, Hopps examined the evidence under a microscope and concluded that it was probably human, but it might've been from a pig. The three of them decided it was time to confront Rupert once and for all and we called it a night.
